PERSONALIZED MUGS

I really loved this project because I think anything with kids' adorable handwriting on it is just too cute! These are really easy to do with kids and don't take long to make, so if you're looking for a last minute gift for someone, go grab some mugs! I'm thinking this would be awfully cute with some of children's drawings on the mugs as gifts to grandparents too.

WHAT YOU NEED:

plain ceramic mugs

Sharpie oil based paint markers (we used these)

rubbing alchohol to prep the surface

washable markers for practice

oven to cure the mugs in

First, you'll want to prime your mugs by wiping the outer surface area (the area where you will draw your design) with some rubbing alcohol and allowing them to dry.

Next, I had the kids figure out their design and practice it on regular paper. As you can see, they kept it pretty simple. :)

Then we took it a step further and used washable markers to practice writing on the mug itself. It can be a little tricky for kids to write on a round cup, so the practice is an easy way to get familiar with it! Afterward, simply wipe it off with a wet cloth.

Now use the paint markers to make your actual design. If they make a mistake, you can immediately scrub it off with a damp cloth and try again to get it how they want it.

Next, you'll want to cure your mug to set the paint. Place the mug in a cold oven and turn oven on to 350. Bake for 30 minutes from the time oven is heated. Remove from oven and allow to cool.

Now go give it to someone awesome!
